On October 5, 2003, 25 year old Atlanta Thrashers' forward Dan Snyder passed away from injuries, and a subsequent infection, suffered in an automobile accident six days earlier.
As painful as the senseless loss of any young life can be, it was especially difficult for MedsFile.com Founder Mark Holland, who is a die-hard Atlanta Thrashers fan and season ticket holder since the team’s inception.
On Saturday, April 7, 2007, Holland managed and organized the 50/50 Raffle at the Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Atlanta Thrashers NHL game in Philips Arena.
Employees and friends of MedsFile.com gathered together and sold raffle tickets throughout the game to raise money for the Atlanta Thrashers Foundation (supporting local children's charities) and the Dan Snyder Memorial Foundation (supporting childen in Dan's hometown of Elmira, Ontario, Canada).
Different charities organize the 50/50 Raffle at each Thrashers home game. However, we are humbled to say that we set a record raising the highest amount ever at a Thrashers game.
Dan Snyder's mother, LuAnn, travelled all the way from Elmira, Ontario, Canada to see the game. She was so proud of us that near the end, she put on an apron and joined our ticket selling efforts!
