How can MedsFile.com help me and my family?

There is a need for personal management of your health information.  Can you remember the exact names and exact doses of every medication you take?  What if you were caught in a medical emergency and were unable to communicate with the paramedics?  How would they know what medications you took along with their exact doses?  What about your allergies, emergency contacts, and your list of physicians?

  • MedsFile.com will remember all of this information for you, your parents, your children, or your loved ones.  This information can be viewed online or over a mobile phone.  When at a doctor’s office, simply hand your customer ID card to the receptionist or the nurse.  By following the brief instructions on the card, your information can be printed in minutes.  Your name will not appear on the card or printout thereby ensuring your privacy.
  • Keep your card in a conspicuous place in your wallet. It will be found by emergency medical personnel in the event of an emergency when they reach for your driver's license / ID.
  • For your privacy and protection, MedsFile.com uses a unique two-level security approach with every account. With the login information on your card, your medical information can be viewed and printed by doctors, hospitals, family members, or anyone you choose, anytime, anywhere. However, it takes a second unlisted password to change any information in your account or view your billing information. Therefore, only you or designated parties can do that.

How does MedsFile.com work?

Using state of the art technology, your medical information is stored on secure remote servers accessable only by the Internet or over your mobile phone.

Once you create an account for yourself, a loved one, or a person for whom you are the caregiver, you will immediately be emailed an account Login and PIN so you can begin filling in the patient’s medical information.  Within two weeks, you will be mailed a personal customer identification card.  This plastic card will have the same login and PIN information printed on it.  Your first plastic identification card is free.  For a $2 processing fee per card, you may order additional identical cards for caretakers and loved ones.  Note that neither the patient’s name nor the account administrator’s name appears on the plastic customer identification cards to ensure your privacy.

The next time you visit your doctor, simply hand them your personal identification card.  The card features the directions on how to view and print your account's medical file.  Remember to take your card back with you, but ask your doctor to keep a copy of your card in your chart so your doctor or nurse can always view your latest medical information, especially if you see more than one doctor.

If you do not wish to hand your card to a stranger, feel free to log into your own account, print off your own account's medical file before you head off to the doctor, and simply take the printout with you.

Should you find yourself in a medical emergency and are unable to hand your card to medical personnel, the card is designed to be placed in a conspicuous place in your wallet to be found when an emergency medical technician searches for your driver’s license.  Having your MedsFile.com account accessible by an EMT in the event of an emergency may save your life!

What are the benefits of using MedsFile.com?  Why should I join the MedsFile.com family?

  • We offer the easiest-to-use and most user-friendly personal medication management tool on the Internet.
  • By utilizing our unique two-level approach to security, we offer the most secure medication file on the Internet. (Click here to learn more about this unique approach to security)
  • We will never ask you for your Social Security Number, so there is never a chance for identity theft.
  • Your doctor does not need to subscribe to our service in order for you to input your information.
  • Many patients visit multiple doctors for second and third opinions. This situation can potentially cause harm to you if doctors unknowingly prescribe a medication that could have interaction consequences. By informing each doctor of your current MedsFile.com account, this problem is essentially eliminated.
  • MedsFile.com allows you to store both your prescribed medication information as well as detailed information about herbal supplements you may self prescribe. Most patients don't think to tell their physicians about the supplements they take. A symptom or side-effect may be from a supplement. If doctors are unaware of these supplements, can they treat you most effectively?
  • Many patients visit multiple pharmacies. Often, patients turn to pharmacists for medical advice including the interaction hazards of multiple medications. If you don't pick up all your medications from the same pharmacy, can your pharmacist give you accurate advice? By informing each pharmacist of your current MedsFile.com account, this problem is essentially eliminated.
  • If you were to write down a patient's medications with dosages, all drug and food allergies, all emergency contacts, and all physicians, make copies of this information, and hand them to family members and caregivers, when a single item changes, everyone's list is immediately outdated. Every person with that information needs to have their copy replaced. With a MedsFile.com account, it doesn't matter when or how frequently an account is updated, as it will always be accurate and current for all designated parties.
