Is MedsFile.com required to comply with HIPAA standards?

No.  According to the Office of Civil Rights, MedsFile.com is not defined as a "Covered Entity" and is not bound by HIPAA standards for privacy compliance.

The four "Covered Entities" are:

  1. Health plans
  2. Healthcare clearinghouses
  3. Healthcare providers who conduct certain financial and administrative transactions electronically
  4. Government-funded healthcare programs

Since MedsFile.com does not provide any medical advice or direction, we are not a "Covered Entity."

However, even though we are not required to comply with HIPAA standards, to provide our customers with the utmost privacy and security, we have voluntarily chosen to comply with HIPAA standards.
